Happy Employees a Must for A Company’s Success

Wednesday, May 12, 2010 by Samuel | 0 comments

What are the secret to a high rising company?

People often measure success to financial status. We usually say a person who drives a luxury car has gotten himself one heck of a paycheck (add the fact that he has trips abroad). Busy people, workaholics, and those pretty much too focused and disciplined--they say--get this much. Do they really?

Companies must focus on one thing--if they want success they must get happy employees. According to Thomas Wright and Jon Wefald, Leadership chair in Business Administration and professor of management at K-State, employees who perform well have high levels of psychological being. Define this term in lay man's terms would mean "they are happy employees". So why is it important that they are in such a state of being?

Happy employees perform better...

Further more in their studies such employees actually give out more ideas and are very much into the role of the game when it comes to giving their 101 percent (and at times more). They are more active not to mention less stress out thus giving more creative flow to their work.

Another factor that adds to this equation is that happy employees usually influence even his coworkers. Happiness is a general term to use in this area but let's admit that meeting someone with a smile (and I mean a huge friendly smile) can be influencing and are mostly very intoxicating.

This is a shout-out to all dinosaurs for managers--think of your employees' happiness. This doesn't necessarily mean let them go chitchatting around and stuff; it's still about giving great rewards for them. Here's how:

1. "Thank You" means a lot as much as a smile is. Appreciate the work your employees have done for you and the company, that way he'd be motivated to work even harder.

2. Celebrate with them. For ever success the team made try to hang out or show them appreciation for a job well done with a drink or a day out with them. Their success is the company's success to.

3. Ensure that the work area or the office as whole is equipped with something that will at least make life easier for them. A good coffee machine or great office chairs to sit is already something. This will keep the workers more motivated especially since they are more comfortable.

4. Treat them out once in a while or at least order something for them. Lunch is good. They say meals opens a lot of things to talk about. If it's for the company this is one way of good brainstorming since everybody is just relax and chilling out. You'd be surprised to see that even jokes are great ideas too.

5. it’s time to encourage them. Make it a point to empower your employees although not every day. Acknowledge their potential and make sure they see how good they are and how you appreciate their being at the company.

6. Let them go for further learning. Don't hold them back. It is important to give them the freedom to learn more than what they are already equipped with. Besides once they have that sense of accomplishment then it will give them further confidence to do their work. This will mean better performance. Besides, it is also an advantage for the company.

Happiness is the big deal for everyone. It keeps us motivated and wanting more out of our everyday. It creates good relations plus makes them last at the same time.

Wright's study has been published at Journal of Management, Organizational Dynamics, the Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, and the Journal for Applied Psychology and the Journal of Organizational Behavior.
